By participating in the dual system of the Green Dot for the recycling of sales packaging, Kern GmbH saved approximately 1,976 kg of CO₂ equivalents in 2024. In addition, 11 kg of phosphate equivalents, 14 kg of sulfur dioxide equivalents, and 102 GJ of primary energy were saved. The calculation is based on the Green Dot environmental balance 2023, scientifically prepared by IFEU Heidelberg.
All individual quantities assessed are ecologically evaluated and grouped into impact categories. Energy and resource consumption as well as emissions from recycling are compared with the corresponding impact categories for primary production. The environmental balance compares the impacts of both systems—naturally considering that the same product utility is achieved in both primary production and recycling.
