In February, the audit for recertification to ISO 9001:2025 took place. The quality management system, together with our environmental management under EMAS III, is part of our Integrated Management System (IMS). The goal of the standard, implemented at Kern since 2014, is to optimize production processes and ensure the consistently high quality of our products and services. We aim to prevent complaints and sustainably ensure customer satisfaction. The newly issued certificate is valid until March 30, 2029. Compliance with the standard is ensured through annual audits by external auditors.

Following the EcoVadis re-assessment in December 2025, Kern GmbH received a Silver medal in the sustainability rating for the first time. This places Kern among the top 15% of companies assessed by EcoVadis.
This award confirms our continuous commitment to sustainability, responsible practices, and transparent corporate processes. It also serves as an incentive to further strengthen our performance in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
EcoVadis is a global sustainability assessment platform that helps companies measure, monitor, and improve their CSR and ESG performance (Corporate Social Responsibility / Environmental, Social, Governance).

In 2025, Kern GmbH replaced its two Heidelberg Speedmaster XL106 offset printing presses with the latest series. This series was presented to the world for the first time at last year’s Drupa. Kern continues to rely on the proven combination of a five-color press with coating unit (including UV coating) and an eight-color press with perfecting unit. The machines now offer several technical innovations.

Im August 2025 haben wir unsere Digitaldruckmaschine mit dem PrintCheck Digital nach ProzessStandard Digitaldruck (PSD) zertifiziert. Damit ist gewährleistet, dass mit einer bestimmten Druckbedingung (Drucker, Substrat, RIP, etc.) die Toleranzen des PSD entsprechend FOGRA39 eingehalten werden. Dabei werden Farbgenauigkeit und Auflagekonstanz sowie Homogenität und Detailschärfe berücksichtigt.
Die Zertifizierung ist immer für ein Jahr gültig und wird dann erneut durch die Fogra überprüft.

Die aktualisierte Fassung unserer Umwelterklärung ist ab sofort online abrufbar. Mit unserer Umwelterklärung dokumentieren wir im Rahmen unseres Umweltmanagementsystems nach EMAS III alle umweltrelevanten Daten und Tätigkeiten. Dazu gehören u.a. die generelle Abfallvermeidung und -trennung, im Speziellen die Reduktion des erzeugten Papierabfalls und des Energieverbrauches.
