The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization that established the first system for certifying exemplary forest management and has since been operating and further developing it. Wood products from forest operations certified according to FSC criteria are labeled with the FSC label. This also applies to paper produced from such certified wood.
Labelling
In the production of FSC-certified products, various materials are used. The respective FSC label indicates whether:
- a product comes from FSC-certified forest management,
- only recycled material was used, or
- a mix of raw materials (Mix) was used.
The license number included in the label allows tracking in a public database to identify the certified company behind the respective product.
