• Over 63 million printed sheets per year
  • ISO 12647 process standard for offset printing (PSO)
  • DE-UZ 195 Blue Angel (Der Blaue Engel) for printed products

Whether catalogs, letterheads, or promotional flyers, the majority of your marketing materials are produced using offset printing. With a modern machinery fleet, Kern GmbH manufactures high-quality media products, from cost-effective small runs with premium specialty paper to multi-million print runs. The latest Heidelberg technologies not only ensure product quality but also make the production process continuously more cost-efficient and resource-friendly.

Printing follows the ISO 12647 process standard offset printing (PSO), ensuring consistently high color quality from data creation to the final print result.

Sustainable offset printing

At Kern, so-called processless printing plates are used. This means that the plate imaging in prepress takes place without the use of drinking water or chemicals such as plate developers, regenerates, gums, and washout finish. Low-pollutant and mineral-oil-free printing inks are used, free from per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS). Raw, auxiliary, and operating materials from renewable resources are exclusively based on non-genetically modified plants and are verifiably not sourced from deforestation of rainforests. The inks, auxiliary, and operating materials used can be separated from the paper fibers during recycling at the end of the print product’s life cycle. This meets all requirements for producing print products certified with the Blue Angel (Der Blaue Engel) DE-UZ 195.

One Pass Productivity

Offset printing is more than just applying ink to paper: One Pass Productivity means completing several finishing steps in a single pass through the press. This saves time and money while also ensuring higher quality. In addition to finishing with UV coating or water-based matte or gloss varnish (flood or spot varnish), further post-press steps such as creasing, die-cutting, and perforation are also possible.
