- Exactly the right fit if you’ve always enjoyed packing parcels, bringing order to chaos, and keeping a cool head.
- Rather not for you if you can’t get past level 12 in Tetris, prefer to avoid paperwork, or think forklift driver Klaus is just a funny influencer.

Warehouse logistics specialists are responsible for incoming and outgoing goods, internal material flow, and warehouse management. They unload goods, check them for completeness and condition, organize proper labeling and storage, plan delivery routes, create the necessary freight and customs documents, load trucks, and ensure proper load securing. They communicate with customers, freight forwarders, suppliers, waste management companies, and authorities. For their tasks, they operate machines and equipment for packing and securing parcels and pallets, use electric pallet trucks, and drive forklifts. They must follow a variety of environmental and occupational safety regulations and demonstrate a high level of care, as any negligence can result in serious traffic accidents and environmental damage.
The dual vocational training usually lasts three years. The school-based part of the training is conducted on two fixed days per week at the KBBZ Halberg in Saarbrücken. On the other days, training takes place in the company. In the second year of training, an intermediate examination must be taken, which is a prerequisite for admission to the final examination in the third year. Both exams consist of a written and a practical part. During the practical part, a task must be completed close to practice under the supervision of an examiner.
The minimum requirement for the profession is a lower secondary school leaving certificate. A good one is preferred, or better still, an intermediate school leaving certificate. In addition to good physical fitness and stamina, trainees should have good spatial awareness, organizational skills, and a sense of responsibility. In addition to mathematics and German, foreign language skills—especially English—are advantageous in order to communicate with international freight service providers, for example.
