- Perfect for you if you are comfortable with numbers in various contexts, enjoy making phone calls, writing letters, are reliable, and always keep an overview.
- Less suitable if you dread complex bureaucracy, have trouble with invoices, or do not enjoy phone communication with strangers.
The Management assistant in office administration combines the three former professions: Office clerk, Management assistant in Office communication, and Specialist in office communication..
The dual vocational training usually lasts three years. After the first year of training, two of ten possible elective qualifications are selected to define key focus areas, such as purchasing and logistics, human resources, or assistance and secretarial tasks. High-performing trainees may complete an additional elective qualification as a supplementary qualification.
The school-based part of the training takes place two fixed days per week, for example at KBBZ Neunkirchen or the Dr. Walter Bruch School in St. Wendel. On the other days, training is conducted at the company. The so-called staggered final examination is divided into two parts. The first part takes place in the middle of the second year of training, where office processes and procurement must be completed as a computer-based written task. The result counts for one quarter of the final grade. The second part takes place at the end of the third year and includes both a written exam and, optionally, a task solved in a technical discussion with examiners or a report on an activity carried out at the training company.
Although no specific school leaving certificate is required, an intermediate school leaving certificate is recommended. For high school graduates, the profession is also an interesting alternative to higher education. Applicants should have organizational skills, flexibility, diligence, and commercial thinking.
A friendly and well-groomed appearance is as important as verbal and written communication skills. In addition to German and mathematics, subjects such as business studies or accounting provide a solid foundation for the training.
